perhaps a god of lust imprisoned within a permanent flesh-to-metal effect ... rendering him incapable of experiencing the carnal lust s/he is reknown for, while a cursed ring of mind shielding renders him unable to even sharing such feelings by others vicariously(sp) ... effectively cutoff from their own Portfolio, the resulting lack of sensation gradually driving them insane, warping the very fabric of Love/Lust itself (at least among their faithful) as the vague reminiscence of such fades. (ie Cupid's gradual transformation into the Lady of Pain)

You posted this in another of my posts jefgorbach. I happen to like the idea. I would like to make a god and goddess of love and beauty that some how are turned into deities of Pain and Suffering. What ever help you can give I would enjoy.

Pain has many forms. Presumably the worst imaginable for an extroverted hedonist is complete unending isolation.

Changing the aforementioned single-deity to paired lovers would be a simple. Removing the Ring mitigates the punishment from complete isolation, to one in which the Victim may only experience their Portfolio vicariously thru others via telepathy.

Their eternal mate remains “unpunished”, free to continue experiencing their shared Portfolio as before ... but Suffering with the knowledge the other is fully aware of their every wanton escapade – and more importantly, comprehending what was initially accepted with compassionate understanding, has given way to smoldering jealously, and eventually outright loathing hatred; shared emotions affecting both of the twin lovers via their telepathic link -- transforming what began as acts of gentle loving caress into self-destructive abuse intent on sharing as much physio-emotional pain as possible.

As before, their Faithful reflect this gradual descent from traditional love until BSDM becomes the cultural norm. Taken to an extreme, the priesthood’s self-flagrant of choice might eventual debase to a barbed dildo of regeneration.

To give a RW example ... Jesus on the cross with crown of thorns while Mary Magalin(sp) suffers nearby with her head down sobbing at the fate of her friend (and lover per some sources/beliefs).

Dude, you seem to have misunderstood a thing or two about christian beliefs, probably while watching that stupidly awful Mel Gibson movie. And really, cut out the real world religion, or you'll have the mods coming down on you quickly.

I trust the Mods would accept/overlook a quick one-sentence description of a common Artwork theme, chosen simply because its well-known and "clarity" ... in how a common depiction reflects the viewer's comprehension. We understand the mythos represented by the scene because the clergy explained it thusly.

I also had a problem figuring out the Pain portfolio (portfolios in the IH rules sense of the word, not Deities & Demigods. Two separate things.) when I went to stat out Slaanesh.

Just curious, what system do you use for gods? If you use IH rules I may be able to help.
