Here's a neat little monster I whipped up a few months ago... the pcs nicknamed 'em "Sh*tchickens" and even after I told them their real name, the s-chicken label stuck. Filth Bird Medium Magical Beast Hit Dice: 5d10+35 (62 hp) Initiative: +3 (dex) Speed: 40’ AC: 15 (+3 dex, +2 natural) Attacks: Bite +5 melee Damage: Bite 1d6 plus disease Face/Reach: 5’x5’/5’ Special Attacks: Cough, spit, disease Special Qualities: Immune to disease, fast healing 5 Saves: Fort +11, Ref +7, Will +0 Abilities: Str 10, Dex 16, Con 25, Int 7, Wis 9, Cha 3 Skills: Bluff +4, Jump +8, Sense Motive +0 Feats: Fleet of Foot, Run Climate/Terrain: Any warm flat land Organization: Solitary, pair or flock (3-20) Challenge Rating: 3 Treasure: No coins; 50% goods; 50% items Alignment: Often neutral evil Advancement Range: 6-9 HD (medium), 10-15 HD (large) Description: Filth birds are comical looking despite being filthy. They wallow in their own excrement and in dead things. They try to pass themselves off as being funny little things in order to solicit handouts. If this tactic fails, the spiteful little things will cough near the offenders in hopes of infecting them with filth fever. Combat: A filth bird prefers to avoid battle, but if provoked it will attempt to spit at its foe and then move in to attack. Though not the brightest things, filth birds are not entirely stupid and will not rush into a large group of adventurers unless some of them are at least temporarily disabled. Cough (Su): The cough of a filth bird requires all creatures within a 15’ spread centered on it to make a Fort save against filth fever (DC12). Spit (Ex): A filth bird may hawk up a nasty brownish loogie and spit it at an enemy within 20’. Unless the target makes a Reflex save, DC15, it is blinded for 1d4 rounds and must make an additional save against filth fever. Disease (Ex): A filth bird’s bite requires the victim to make a Fortitude save, DC12, to avoid being infected with filth fever. [edited to add Fleet of Foot as a feat]
