Dispel Magic on Magnificent Mansion?

Would it be possible to Dispel the whole Mordenkainens Magnificent Mansion by targeting a Dispel Magic at the portal thats left behind? The spell states that the portal becomes invisible, but that its still there. So, if someone could find it, could he try to dispel the Mansion?

Without reference to the rules, I don't see why not, it might dramatically limit the usefulness of the spell as an instant hideaway though.

Instant hideaway? Never thought of that. I was mostly thinking of reasons why anyone would want to build their own strongholds since Magnicficent Mansion is clearly superior.

The benefit of a stronghold is that you can store things in it. The mansion only lasts 2 hours / level, and after that anything in it hits the ground.

For a variation of this theme, look through Piratecat's Story Hour where a group of Druids set a bonfire at the entrance and then dispelled their variation on the "Magnificent Mansion."
