Divine Ascension & the ELH

I've been batting an idea around for Divine Ascension since the ELH came out. I was thinking that a character should have at least Epic Leadership which means that they'd have to be 21st Lv to even think about attempting a rise to godhood.

That is a very good idea. Of course, this assumes that you need to have some sort of body of followers to become a diety. I have that as one of the many requirement for godhood. I'm going to now require this as well.

It isn't defined yet because no one has persued it. I have a major artifact called the Book of Ascension. It is written by the gods and gives exact instructions on how to become one. The gods know that at some point one or more of them may die, so this is the way they be replaced. Page one was gain a private sanctum to start the process.

If someone did start down the road they would first need to make a name for themselves and find a nicht. All gods have a nicht and it's rather important. They would have to gain power in their nicht and that could involve doing anything. At the same time they must fullfill their nicht for many other people, proving that their actions effect the world. That's a good start. Specifics would be different depending on the PC.

Ascension and feats...

Why use feats when you can simply kill Imhotep?
Anybody wishing to become a deity should just go after that little shrimp. As far as I'm concerned, he isn't powerful enough to be a god.

Because killing one and becoming one are two different things. And I'm not going to comment on how hard it truely is to kill him. :D

If anyone that reads this thread has any ideas for the requirements for divine ascension using the Epic Level Handbook please state them. Maybe we can get a community-wide project going if there is enough interest.

Any minute now you'll probably see a shameless plug from Upper_Krust telling how great his god book is and how badly the ELH and D&Dg sucked and that his will kick all their butts. :D

Since UK's book is due anyday now, we can judge for ourselves, however I'm pretty it WILL have detailed rules for divine ascension.
