Kind of like the dark pact warlock, but instead of allies taking the pain to fuel your extra kick, you get to cut yourself in true martyr fashion! :D

Though, nothing (of the little shown) is overly self-sacrificing, so it seems decent so far!.

Well, now we know why her nose bleeds!

Interesting class. The self-infliction of ongoing damage cannot be underestimated... Ongoing damage is always a great, hidden income of large amounts of damage. ;)

Would monsters know that the invoker was vulnerable 20? Seems like it'd be perfect time for the monsters to drop everything and kill-a-voker.

It's the masochist class build. I'm picturing someone playing a Revenant Shadar-kai Malediction Invoker of the Raven Bimbo now for ultimate emo. (I swear, if I ever run 4e and someone tries that, their character dies during character creation. <_> )

I can't say the flavour of it appeals to me at all, but it's certainly interesting.

Isn't there a utility power that allows the Invoker to become invulnerabilty to damage until the end of his next turn, but take damage equal to his bloodied value if he attacks?
Seems like a good case to use your action point and expend two dailies. :)

And watch the DM grind their teeth in frustration, too. :)

It's an interesting question about whether or not enemies can "see" that you are vulnerable. I suspect that it's going to be entirely left to the discretion of the DM.

If it could not be seen, then the drawback is a whole lot less.

This begs the next logical question - how to best optimize your invoker to mitigate or even work around the drawbacks. For instance, how can we improve our saves to potentially reduce the amount of ongoing damage taken?

The general rule is that, yes, they do.

I know I always consider Avalanche Strike to be my signal to lay into the barbarian with everything the bad guys have. :)
