I'm not the best DM.
I'll be the first to admit that.
But after 4-5 months of DMing, I wanted to play a PC. That is where I have my fun, honestly.
So when another PC, who's been playing since Second Edition, steps up to DM, I had decent expectations of fun.
Today was the first day. Oi.
Just a few highlights:
------
The first 5 minutes was me and another PC firing Ballistas at an oncoming army of 5 or so men with a catapult. I showed him in the book where Ballistas did 3d6 or so damage, whereas he changed it from Ballistas to "sorta big crossbows" which did 1d12 damage.
The boss was his old PC.
10 more minutes since he forgot to update his PC, after a week of asking him to get everything ready. So he sat down and asked how many spells he would get for being 7th level and how many Hit Points he'd have.
2 minutes to Hold person and Coup De Gra'd his (N)PC boss in the first 2 rounds.
End Game
----
I kept wanting to jump back into the DM seat and pull some random creature out of my head for us to fight. To do something to help the game, which to me desperately needed it.
Have you guys ever been in a situation like this? Where you want to be PC, but notice how you probably are the only one who can really DM well? Enough to actually run a game?
How do you deal with this?
