DMG and value of spell books?

First Post
Is there some place in the DMG that gives the value of a captured spellbook? Or am I just supposed to figure out the value of the book based on the number and level of spells contained therein - which is what I have been doing, but that doesn't seem right somehow.

I don't remember to have seen a price guideline for written spellbooks.

I supposed you have counted the cost of an equivalent set of scrolls. You can prepare a spell from another spellbook, or you can copy it to your own, and it doesn't "disappear"; instead if you copy it from a scroll it disappears, and you can't "prepare" a spell from a scroll, but you can cast it directly.

I really don't know if it should cost more or less than the scrollset: you may even copy all the spells you don't have (which has its own cost) and sell the spellbook to someone else. Or if you have a high Spellcraft score you may keep it to prepare new spells without scribing costs.

The scrolls are ready to use but consumed in the process.
The spellbook has no immediate-cast use but stays.

Boh? :)
