Well, I grabbed my copy today. As I predicted, the local store had a large display with roughly 40 copies.

Time to start reading!

No! it's not time to start reading. It's time to start posting. You should already have thorougly read the whole book on your way home from your FLGS. That's what designated drivers are for, after all.

Seriously, thank you for posting, Phil. I look forward to reading more, but it's good to know that it's out already. I might have to go find a copy myself now. . .

I got my copy from Game Empire in SD, but they looked like they were running low already.
(Only one copy left on the shelf I grabbed it from).

I guess a quick question might be ok - this book contains no open content, correct?

I do not think it would make good business sense to make the contents of a just released book into open content. Would make the book rather useless really quick.

It worked with Unearthed Arcana, and apparently the d20 Weapons Locker. I still find it extremely unlikely, with the low attention the SRD and the OGL get from WotC (yay for acronyms!), but it isn't impossible.

According to the legal text, DMGII contains no OGC. I certainly hope that some of it--magical locations, unique character traits, guardian spirits, and definitely the mob template--do make it to the SRD eventually. :)
