I am not saying that their is no room for progress, nor am I saying that eventually 4.0 should exist. What I am saying is that as of this point their isn't a need game wise for a new edition. This is something that WOTC has a record of messing up I.E. Magic the Gathering's new editions every time some one sneezes policy. I for one will not spend money on an as yet unneeded edition. Why? For the exact reason that this post was started. In its own way DMG 2, PHB 2 and the errata have pretty much done what is needed to keep it a smooth system. Their is absolutely no reason why WOTC can not branch out a bit and bring forward more of the D&D product line from earlier editions For instance Dark Sun, Birthright, and Maztica are waiting to be delved into. Ghostwalk player option could be expanded into a full treatment CS, I for one would scrounge money for those books. 3.5 is not a dying system unless folks make it so by hiping up newer editions. I draw a hard line here, because I feel that if a 4th Edition is made it means the end of the revitalized era for D&D. While their are a few of us gamers who are siked up about this new edition many of my friends feel that it is an obviously lame excuss for WOTC to charge another 40 or so bucks for another ESSENTIAL book. What changes are they going to make to this system. Lower the power of the Monk, or give the Cleric Specializations, what do we need that can't already be found in the vast library of material already written for a system that works
