Fond memories..... A friend was running a 2E DL game and had a high level Solamnic knight, Sir Ali Khatorva. He was a supposed to be a real prig, embodying the best and worst of the breed all at once. I was watching and the DM asked me to play the NPC to take some of the load off. The DM'd given him some nifty magic items and never really looked at the character again. I looked at the sheet and quickly reconfigured the gear he was wearing vs carrying and lowered his ac into the low negative numbers, boosted his attack & damage, and handed off some handy but redundant defensive items to the NPC squire Timmy, giving him the second best AC in the party. (!!!) Sir Ali was quickly dubbed "SaraLee - the cheesecake Paladin." I managed to courteously insult just about every PC, made every save against the traps the rogue intentionally missed in an attempt to kill off Sir Ali, and successfully pinned Lord Soth for two rounds. Oh sure, he was blinded and thrown through a portal mirror that might have just left him in the abyss but it was all worth it when Timmy bravely charged forward with Ali's spare sword and (thanks to an insane AC) managed to occupy Soth long enough for the PCs to destroy the McGuffin of Badness. I believe Sir Ali was left wherever the portal took him since the PCs decided to kill him on sight. Timmy (knighted shortly thereafter) sung Sir Ali's praises loudly at every opportunity, pointing out the deficiencies of the rogue and the fact that only the Solamnic Knights (and Squires) had the strength of will to face Soth directly. Good times, good times....
