First, for those so inclined summary of session 1: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?472081-Lost-Mines-of-Phandelver-Session-1 Brief summary of session 2: PCS awoke in Cragmaw Hideout after cleaning it out. The Elven wizard Ghost who was supposed to be on last watch was missing with no signs of foul play. After looking around for him and finding nothing the party decided to head back to Phandelver. En route they came across two ogres making some breakfast in a giant cook pot - two prisoners! A human wizard and 1/2 orc paladin. During the combat the prisoners had a chance to escape their bonds and join in at the end, helping the party finish the ogres off. Back in town, the party (now +2) met up with several of the relevant NPCS and were offered various quests as per normal. The red brands were also introduced and the group decided after an afternoon of partying at the inn to head out and look for trouble. They ran into the red brands in the streets and basically whupped 'em silly. One got away and managed to escape back to the red brand hide out. The party is pretty intimidating, and I made a call I needed to regroup as I didn't want the red brands, Albrek to sit there and wait for the PC's to come so they all fled. We were running short of time although they wanted to check out Tresendar so I threw some zombies in first few rooms there to finish things off with a bang. As you can see, got a little off the rails as far as the adventure goes! That's ok as everyone had fun but I'd like to regroup for the next session and get back on track a little bit. Our next session is going to be a good long one (5 hours) so I'd like to wrap things up as much as possible . . . Here's the general idea to continue: Party will continue to explore mostly abandoned Tresendar - magic mouth spell left behind will warn the group to back off or risk death. In slave pen area 5 will find initially dead looking dwarf, actually doppleganger impersonating Gundren. He will temporarily join the group after healing and learn what they know and try to lure them into the chasm where there is an ambush planned. Aside from the nothic I don't know at this point what else to put down there but I want something epic. The party is level 3 now and really hasn't had a good serious fight that has taken up lots of resources - I want a knock down drag out fight with a chance of one or more of the group being killed. (2 fighters, 1 cleric, 1 paladin, 1 wizard). Fake Gundren exposed quickly and will be part of combat but flee if necessary to report to Albrek etc . . . perhaps party can capture him and interrogate - red brands etc all fled to Cragmaw castle(?) After the battle of Tresendar chasm I need to move the group along to either cragmaw castle or wave echo. There is no reason at this point for them to go to Thundertree so I thought of bringing Thundertree to them . . .perhaps Albrek convinced Venomfang to terrorize Phandalin for a bit of fun? I'd like to group to get sorted out and rest after the chasm battle so there is time to get new info to them. Kind of stuck at this point . . . after big battle of chasm and possible Venomfang encounter like to move them along to wave echo for finale . . . All suggestions appreciated!!
