Do characters get more encounter/daily "slots" as they level?

Do characters get more uses of encounter and daily powers as they increase in level, or do they always just get 1 (with more options to chose from)?

I don't think we really know yet... I am thinking there will probably a slow but steady progression up.

Just not large enough that the player will be swamped by powers.
 


considering that the only class we've seen that needs to "prepare" anything is the wizard, I would hazard that any at will or per encounter power a character has can be used at any time (within the limits of the power). i'm guessing that at the same rate that other characters gain dailies, wizards gain "daily prep slots" to choose which spells they will prepare.

This. With the exception of the cleric and paladin abilities that draw off the same "charges," having a per-encounter ability means you can use that ability once per encounter. So, for example, the Eladrin ranger can use fey step once per encounter and fox's cunning once per encounter. Presuming he picks up a new per-encounter power at level 2, he'll be able to use that power once per encounter too.

No word yet on whether it's legal to pick the same encounter power more than once to get multiple uses--though you can do that with Force powers in Star Wars Saga Edition, so it may be possible in 4E.
 

I remember seeing a quote implying that first level characters to not have as many powers as higher level characters, but that at a certain point, the amount you have plateaus out.

So I assume characters get "new" abilities for a couple of levels (presumably the "utility" abilities), and after that you swap out your powers for new ones. (except possibly the Wizard, who gets new ones to prepare from).

One would assume you don't get too many more encounter and daily powers, or the "action economy" ceases to be an economy.
