Do familiars get feats?

Is there any way for my familiar to get Flyby Attack? Or any feat for that matter, other than the ones of the base creature type? Do familiars get feats as they improve in hit dice?

I suppose you could treat a familiar with advanced hit dice as an Improved Familar. However, I suspect that you wish to gain feats for your famialiar based upon the sorcerer/wizard's level. I don't think that's possible. Although, I seem to recall something similar involving tricks and the Handle Animal skill. It was likely a houserule somewhere as it would conflict with Extra Trick feat in Complete Adventurer.

RAW? No, familiars don't: "Hit Dice: For the purpose of effects related to number of Hit Dice, use the master’s character level or the familiar’s normal HD total, whichever is higher." They don't have the HD, they just have the number for effects related to hit dice - so when someone lets off a Blasphemy, your familiar is as safe as you are, usually.

Psicrystals, on the other hand, are: "Hit Dice: As master’s HD (hp 1/2 master’s)" so they actually have the HD, and get the feats. Your Psicrystal could conceivably take Leadership.....

You sir, are a genius. Or at the very least have an Intelligence on par with a dragon turtle, could giant, or lamia.

could giant

Ah, the dreaded could giant! Along with the should and would giants, they form the terrible trio of titanic ne'er do wells, ne'er do poorlies, and just generally ne'er do anythings.

If one cruely reads that, familiars are very vulnerable to con damage. They don't get HP determined by Con, but abilty damage to con lowers thier HP just the same.

ABILITY SCORE LOSS...
If a character’s Constitution score drops, then he loses 1 hit point per Hit Die for every point by which his Constitution modifier drops. A hit point score can’t be reduced by Constitution damage or drain to less than 1 hit point per Hit Die.
