Do Increased Caster Levels Stack?

We've always played it that they stack. So if you have the +1 caster level for fire spells and a +1 caster level for evocation spells and you cast a evocation/fire spell you get the +2. That's the way we've played it. Doesn't mean we've been doing it by RAW.

Thanks,

What he said. If they come from named sources that are the same, then they don't, but most of the time this isn't the case so they will.

I think there are some feats in Complete Mage which give an enhancement bonus to CL as part of their benefit. These wouldn't stack with each other.

Shilsen's right; I have never seen a "typed" caster level bonus ... so all of them stack.

The reserve feats from Complete Mage each give a competence bonus. So, if you had multiple feats that give a bonus to the same type of spell, only one applies.

I also wouldn't allow multiple identical bonuses to stack, even if unnamed. So, there's no benefit to having a second orange prism ioun stone for example.

I'd think this falls under the "unnamed bonuses from the same source don't stack" rule. They both have the source of an Orange Ioun Stone. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a DM that'd allow that.

I'd allow it.

I have an Orange Ioun Stone, and I have a different Orange Ioun Stone.

Heck, there's no reason you couldn't make the second one blue; the colors don't have any mechanical effect.
