Do you Blog?

"Blog" must be one of the ugliest words ever to have come into being. While a natural shortening of "web log", the lazy folks who coined the term had no sense of linguistic esthetics whatsoever. Turning it from a noun ("Do you have a blog?") to a verb ("Do you blog?"), only makes it worse. "Blog" is the name of an extremely fat and ineffectual goblin. It certainly isn't something you'd want to keep in your own home, or an activity you'd willingly undertake.

Thus endeth the rant.

otoh, i love the term 'blogging'. it represents english evolution in action, and as a linguist, i love that sort of thing =)

i also have a livejournal, though i use it mainly for the journal part, and less for the live.

As do I, it's a perfectly fine word (as a noun and as a verb).

Oh and thanks for the links to your blogs, will be checking those out.
