Do You Title Your Sessions?

I guess the title says it all. Do your game sessions have titles? As a corollary to that, do you keep any kind of game records?

I do- every session I do a sign in sheet so I know who was there, their class, level and alignment. At the top I put a title, though sometimes the pcs go in directions I hadn't expected and I retroactively change the title. :o

Do your players know these titles before the session starts? :)

I sometimes make notes on a session which includes a summary of the events with background info the palyers do not get, but I do not give these summaries a title. Normally one of my players writes the summary of a session and gains XP for doing this.

Giving the summaries titles is good for writing the storyhour.

Depends on the game. I f I were running X-Crawl for instance I really would. I thought about doing this for my Stargate game, but we really need to get iout of the "pilot" for it to matter.

I always give the adventure a title; the individual sessions are usually just "Part I," "Part II," etc., although sometimes for a big, campaign-altering adventure, each "chapter" will also have a title.

I almost always have titles for my adventures. It helps me focus on the key concepts when planning it out and also when I need to go back to reference something that happened in a past adventure.

I do keep notes on what happened during an adventure, but they're pretty rough and basic.

this looks all too familiar. if i didn't know ... i'd say you used the DM's Log from 1edADnD back in the day.. and just kept the style

I title adventure segments as one might a book chapter. Usually, I assign the titles after the adventure is completed, rather than before the action starts.

I forgot to mention game record. I keep a histoery of the campaign using the dates of the adventure. So, I'll not it takews them a week to get to the city of Calador and they arrive on the 5th of Kronn, and then just mark what they do each day.

I usually don't title an individual session, but I do title the actual adventures. I'll even give the connecting encounters titles when I write them up for my story hour. Record-keeping wise, I keep a sheet that I use for hitpoint/AC/level/saves, and written notes which mostly consist of combat actions. Since I started writing the story hour, I've started recording sessions with a digital voice recorder, so that I have a more accurate representation of dialogue.
