Message: <blockquote data-quote="scourger" data-source="post: 1574525" data-attributes="member: 12328"><p>I think your focus is too much on rules (crunch) versus story (fluff).  DMs don't need more rules about how to make a particular campaign setting work within the rules they choose to apply in their games.  Or, as you imply in your last post, they don't need rules about how to make your campaign setting work with seemingly disparate rules (PHB core vs. AU variants).  It is more imperative to present the story of the campaign than to define the ways certain variant rules may be applied to the campaign world.  To that end, you should stick to the core rules.  Then the addition of variant rules is the province of individual DMs (consumers).  Or don't stick to the core--as long as your product defines the variant rules necessary to the story of the campaign.</p></blockquote><p></p>
