Doctor Who influences on Ravenloft?

Huw

First Post
Just finished watching the old Doctor Who story The War Games, from 1969. I'm still going to use spoiler tags because there will be those who haven't seen it:

The planet in The War Games is divided into zones, each zone being a different time period. The time periods are separated by a strange mist. Anyone entering the mist is either prevented from leaving their zone, or gets lost and ends up a different time. Further, it is hinted that many of the inhabitants of these zones (who don't realise that they're on another planet) are captured and hypnotised after walking into this mist.

So, has anyone involved in the design of Ravenloft commented on this? Is there an older source which uses a similar plot device which they both might have used?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think it's unreasonable to assume the Doctor is a real entity who invented role-playing games in general along with Ravenloft and other settings in his travels through time and space.

hey it's possible :)
I love all the sort of pop culture/movie bits in 4th ed
like in Open Grave, the undead kid who uses the "Cut the Tendon" power, straight from Pet Semetary film, lol!! ;)
