Does anyone know this European rpg?

Aren't you swedish?

Judging by your sig, I'd say you were swedish. So the best way of getting it is having someone you know in Sweden (if any) buy it and ship it.

If that does not work, try www.hobbygames.se or www.hobbyspel.com. Very friendly mail order shops, and they will probably help you as best they can if you drop them a mail.

Hope that helps!

I don't know the game, but is the (translated) title really "Dragons & Demons" aka D&D? Ouch!

Yep

It's Dragons and Demons and its the game that denied Dungeon s& Dragons dominance in Sweden.

It is based on Basic Roleplaying, first edition came out in 1982, and there's been six editions, with total sales up to 100 000 spread over the editions (yes, rpgs used to be really ho here).

The name was indeed meant to be similar to Dungeons & Dragons, and in Sweden the phrase Dungeons & Dragons is often translated to Drakar och Demoner, which bugs the hell out of us rpg-players since we know the games are different...:D

But basically, what Dungeons & Dragons is in the US, Drakar och Demoner is in Sweden.

The dominant RPG (well, nowadays there are contenders, but hey, let's just ignore them)

Cheers!

Oooh. Nice artwork and continent map... I might not mind having that, even though it'll be Greek (er, Swedish) to me. But I know someone who can translate it!

I've often wanted to see more about European gaming. There are apparently dozens of games produced over there that I never ever hear about unless someone does a US version or edition (In Nomine, Engel, etc).

Very nice looking game- but the Swedes tend to go that extra mile for gaming goodness. Take a look at the past success stories; Kult, Mutant Chronicles and Gemini, all fantastic, all sat on my gaming shelf. Good stuff.

Thank you for the link, Maggan, and the information, everyone. I am not from Sweden (third generation American), but I am trying to learn the language and culture again. I had stumbled upon the rpg accidentally, while looking up Paul Bonner art and figured I could see beautiful art and learn Swedish at the same time.

Hellbender,

Do you have any links you can share for the Paul Bonner art you were looking for? Are there any english versions of the game?

I did a Google image search the other day on "Paul Bonner" (in quotes) and found very few references. The best I found either at the Riotminds site or through the Confrontation game.

A few of the best Bonner art I have found so far is through my old White Dwarf magazines.

As far as an English version of the game, not that I know of. Not like it wouldn't work, you cannot get too much closer to DnD than Palladium Fantasy, and that sells well.

Not in english

But it might be. There have even been talk about a d20 version... but those plans have been put on hold at the moment, it's selling like hotcakes in Sweden, and Riotminds are focusing on producing material in Swedish.

I'll see what I can do, but it might take a while... like one or two years. :D
