Does your RPGShop ship to Australia?

MrGrey

First Post
I don't know where to post this, as there doesn't seem to be a forum for technical questions. I want to know whether the RPGShop on this site ships to Australia. I am a US citizen living in Sydney, and want to run Conan the RPG. Unfortunately, I can't find ANY RPG shops here, much less one that sells the Conan rulebooks. So I'm gonna have to ship it in from the US.

Thanks... (I would have just asked the site admin this question by email, but it says in the "about" section that he probably won't respond)

It's just an affiliate store (not really part of EN World), but I found its shipping info section here:

http://enworld.rpgshop.com/foreign.php

So, in short, yep, they ship to Australia.

Where did you see that? I try to respond to everything, although things do slip through the net from time to time.

Just make sure you put your postage on upside down.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. :) I guess I thought it was "implied" from this comment, though you are correct that you do not specifically state it:

"If you need to contact me, then please feel free to do so via email. However, please be aware that I do get an awful lot of emails every day, and that you may well be able to find out the answer to your question a lot quicker by yourself."

What that map fails to show is that Australia actually has about the same land mass as the continental US, except that it only has a population of 20 million people - hence my trouble finding merchandise...and the whole lot of them would rather be playing cricket than D&D. Wait, what am I saying, does that make me a nerd or not? What is nerdier, cricket or D&D? All my friends keep making cricket jokes at me... (sorry, off topic)

Game shops in Sydney? How about Napoleon's, right in the heart of town. I bet there's more, too. Brisbane's less than half the size of Sydney and we have three or four stores that carry RPGs.

Or if you prefer mail order, there's MilSims, who have an excellent range and will probably be cheaper than ordering direct from the US.

Oh, and RPGs are much nerdier than cricket. I'll be willing to revise that statement immediately gaming becomes a televised international sport where players are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and date super-models.

I'd still rather be gaming, though :)

Napoleon's was somewhat disappointing the last time I was there.

Besides Napoleon's there are at least two other stores in central Sydney - Games Paradise (www.gamesparadise.com.au I think) and the Tin Soldier. They're in the phonebook.

<Insert obligatory "Shop anywhere other than Games Paradise if you possibly can" statement here>

The Tin Soldier and Napoleon's have a decent range - something as mainstream as the Conan Roleplaying Game should be possible to find at either store, and I've found non-mainstream stuff at both stores.

They're even on the same street! Napoleon's is at 139 York Street (opposite the Queen Victoria Building) and The Tin Soldier is at 38 York Street (about a block down from the QVB on the same side of the street).

I also recommend the cafe on street level above The Tin Soldier (which is one level below the street). Good food, I've found.

Also! See my signature. Non-students are very welcome to join SUTEKH (Hell, I graduated four years ago, and I'm still active), and we're a club with over 150 members - voted the Best Club of 2006 by the University of Sydney Union.

That is to say, gamers aren't exactly rare in Sydney if you know where to look.

Not quite, but MilSims are somewhat quicker than ordering from the US directly. Normal turn around for a US order is about 3-4 weeks (sometimes longer), MilSims is half that, at maybe (up to) +10% cost, so IMHO, it's worth it. BTW, I'm in Sydney NSW, MilSims is in Melbourne VIC. To date, they have been very reliable, and I highly recommend them.

Agreed & seconded! As another of the plethora of ex-GP employees, steer clear if you can. If you do have to go in there, try for the afternoon rather than the morning, to avoid <she who shall not be named>.
