I'd recommend Lulu over PrintFu...

Lulu's cost for a 200 page book is around $9. Printfu is around $12. 30% difference is pretty significant. And lulu has more binding options.

The consensus is Indesign which is the correct one. I wouldn't by anything soon though. Creative Suite 3 is just around the corner. Also, if you know anyone in school, you can save a ton of money. Go to http://www.journeyed.com and pick up Creative Suite 3 when its released. Its a lot better then CS2 is. I've been beta testing it and its pretty sweet (no pun intended).

is it 600$ better? most likely cs3 will be 1000$ at least. You can get cs2 for 300$ while cs3 may be awesome (I haven't seen anything on it) cs2 is a lot cheaper with relatively low deprecation.

also a student copy wont help you if your audited, unless your publishing as non profit (different then no profit)
