Domain powers (+1 caster level, like good and stuff)

the Jester

Legend
Sooo... if I have the Good domain does the granted power apply to all spells with the Good descriptor, or only to domain spells?

Is the answer to my question actually in the books anywhere?

it's all good spells Jester

PH p32 "The Good domain allows him to cast all spells identified by the good descriptor at +1 caster level..."

Hm, okay. This means I've been nerfing Orbius "the Eye" Visionary, a cohort in my campaign... He has the divination prestige domain due to his divine oracle class, and I've been ruling it's domain spells only. All divinations... wow.

that's certainly one of the more powerful domain abilities (that gives bonuses to caster levels), especially considering divination is school of magic, not a descriptor...

Yes, and divination is so broken too.

Isn't there a feat in a Monte Cookbook that makes all your spells have the good descriptor or something ?

Well, it is a prestige domain... but still, it's powerful.

The character who has it actually just had a "terrible retribution for spying" kind of encounter last game. It'll be in my story hour eventually... [/pimp]

i didn't mean that in a negative way. when you compare to some of the other +1 caster level domain abilities, you get a lot less bang for your buck (as it were :D ), like there aren't very many conjuation (healing) spells you can apply the Healing domain ability, compared to divination spells.

No.

There are feats that make some of the damage from a spell holy, or add holy damage, but those don't change the spell descriptor. The only feats I know of that do that are the Elemental Substitution feat and maybe a few others.

Like, say:

Corrupt Spell [Metamagic]
The character can transform one of her spells into a thing of evil due to a deal she makes with an evil power.
Prerequisite: Any evil alignment.
Benefit: This feat adds the evil descriptor to a spell. Furthermore, if the spell deals damage, half of the damage is unholy damage. The corrupted spell takes up a spell slot one level higher than the spell's actual level.
- Book of Vile Darkness.

I don't have the Book of Hallowed Might, but I wouldn't be surprised if a Good version was in there...
