domination spell question

hmmm. from what i've read in the spell domination, it would be similar to being caged within your own body. a person under the effects would have no control at all over their body. At times, the spell would take on some of the same qualities as being in a sensory deprivition tank.

if your character is under such a spell, i would think that once you were free of it, you might display some of the same symptoms as being released from a sensory deprivition tank (ie: sensory deprivition torture).

i have a fair idea of what it would intail, but roleplaying suggestions would be nice. ^)^

I think one of the factors is whether or not they remember anything that they did or happened around them while under the affect of the spell.

I think the target of a Dominate Person spell is lucid enough to realize quite well what is going on. After all what is going on is another person is forcing their thoughts into the targets head and then labeling them as "top priority". It isn't like you can't understand what you are doing, but simply feel an unresistable urge to do what you are told.

That's the way it seems to me anyway.

Seems correct. The description of a domination effect under the "Charm and Compulsion" description on pg.291 of the DMG makes it quite evident that one is aware of being controlled by someone else.

exactly. one of my characters is under a form of mental domination, where she's pretty much caged within her own mind and the other person is controlling her like a puppet. some way to introduce a character to a party. lol. i'm having fun with it though. right now, she's singing annoying gnome songs (children road-trip songs like a hole in the bottom of the sea) to keep from going insane. (she's an elf btw and elves, from what i understand generally detest cages)

but when she's released, i think the symptoms of being involuntarily locked in a sensory dep chamber would work pretty good as a reaction to the domination spell. i just need some suggestion. ^)^
