[DotF] War Priest

Hand of Vecna

First Post
I noticed 2 of the prereqs for the War Priest PrC is 5 ranks each in Diplomacy and Sense Motive. It seems to me that Intimidate would be more useful to a War Priest than Diplomacy, though.

Any comments/rebuttals?

The Warpriest is also missing the two Divine Feats that apply to his allies: Divine Cleansing and Divine Resistance.
It's a no-brainer in my mind to add them to the class as virtual feats.

One of my favorite characters ever was a warpriest.

He was also a halfling.

He had a halfling army. :)

I only got to play him a couple times, though. I miss that little guy.

I agree with you to a certain extent..

How I would run it would be.. if it fitted with the way the God in question worked.. then Diplomacy could be swapped out with Intimidate.

So.. for one War god.. it is Diplomacy..

for the other.. it is Intimidate..

of course.. to be fair I would tell the player which it was for his/her god when they started play so that the can take that into consideration.

and I think the class rocks. big time.

Diplomacy because you might have to persuade the troops to attack overwhelming odds (or something nasty, like a dragon). If you're an evil priest of an even more evil god (like Bane, the old tyrant), they're afraid of you anyway. IMO, Intimidate is to make people do things by seeming more of a threat as you really are. If you, the meek priest, tell your troops to "go and attack that black dragon, or you have to deal with me", the ruse could fail and you suddenly have half a hundred guys in front of you who much rather attack a boastful cleric than a beast with a mouth as large as you......
