Bummer. I thought this was a post telling us that if we got xp-awards on the boards this weekend it would count twice as much. Though perhaps I should mention this to my players so they buy me pizza tomorrow. :)

Maybe I should try out microtransactions in my game. $1 per 100g, $10 for basic magic items, $25 for a level-up, $50 for an extra life, the list goes on and on.

I'm sure that would go over well.

$1 per point point-buy.
$120 for a character with all 20s. Although we're thinking about splitting the stats like 2e for double the stats or $240 potentially per character.

An average character is only $60.

Character creation should always be free. That's how you rope them in.

What you really want to do is take a page from the online games and let players play the regular game for free, but grant them "Hero Points" to do little extra things.

Keep it small at first, and give them the 1st ten free...

1 HeroP can equal a +1 bonus to a roll, and they stack.
5 HeroP can get you a boost to one stat that lasts an entire scene
10 HeroP can get you a free Heal, even if you are below 0 hp, and its been a few rounds
5 HeroP can get you an extra 100 xp for when you need that slight nudge to the next level.
1 HeroP equals 10 gp; 5 HeroP equals 100 gp; 10 HeroP equals 500 gp; 20 HeroP equals 1000 gp; 40 hp equals 5000 gp,

Of course each HeroP cost a dollar after you use up the first 10....

As a DM, I've never been above bribery... especially when I was a poor college student :)
