Dragging characters to safety

First Post
In a game last night a character with a 14 strength had to drag another character (Fighter under the effect of paralyzation) to safety. Due to being a barbarian the character doing the dragging had a movement rate of 40. Checking the charts in the PHB for carrying loads we determined that he was now carrying/dragging a Heavy Load.

Did I caculate right in that this would adjust his movement to 30?

Remember that when it comes to emcumberance you can drag an awful lot more then you can carry, probably would have been a medium load.

A 14 STR character can drag up to 290 pounds (light load), 665 pounds (medium load), and 875 pounds (heavy load). Favorable circumstances can double these numbers. Unfavorable circumstances can halve these numbers.

For combat purposes, dragging a paralyzed character is the same as moving a heavy object, a move-equivalent action that provokes attacks of opportunity. If the paralyzed player is willing and you are capable, you could cast polymorph other or reduce on them to lighten the load.
