Boy, I must be in the minority here or something (or else others of the same opinion are remaining silent) but I was entirely satisfied with all of the spell changes introduced in the last Dragon Mag. Love what they did with the hold spells (this is the one I didn't see coming). The hold spells should remain at their respective levels as they were far too powerful for their spell level anyway. Playing a wizard with the Hold Monster spell my party was able to wipe the floor with giants (and other big bad nasties with relatively low will saves) on a regular basis, let alone those fighter types in the earlier levels. Our 4th level party took out 3 8th level fighter-types with Hold Person (2 clerics, had more holds left to spare too, ack). Polymorph spells look great, permanent poly can no longer be abused and to keep a beneficial form requires multiple spells cast. Well balanced here. Haste was always too good, now its not. Of course the spell in revision form shines as a dim candle versus the bright nova that it is in its current form, but it remains moderately useful. Extra 30ft move (watch and see expeditious retreat changed to extra 30ft move too :p ), an extra attack with full attack, and some AC, reflex bonuses. Not bad, not great either. Those extra fighter attacks can add up though, perhaps the duration will be longer? 1 min/lvl? Still haven't printed the stats on it yet so who knows... Harm/Heal looks good. Fills the niche it is really suppose to and goes from all or naught too, so remains useful to the battle at hand despite the save. Good. Can't wait for July! hehe. :)
