Just saw this over on the WoTC D&D website:

The last 3rd Edition issue of Dragon rolls out in the next several weeks. This issue, we’re stretching into the middle of May, when we’ll launch the first magazine content for the 4th Edition of D&D. In these next few weeks, get your campaigns ready with a sneak preview of 4th Edition epic destinies, and rules on how to implement them as you wrap up your epic 3.5 campaigns. Plus, more Design & Developments are incoming, featuring more information on a pair of martial classes, more information on monsters, and a preview of how magic item creation will work.

Interesting. So is dragon officially quarterly at this point, or is it down to thrice-yearly?

Some meat on the martial classes would be nicely- hopefully the warlord, since its the only class thats almost entirely unknown at this point. After the D&DXP, we at least have a baseline on everything else.

If epic destinies are truly epic and high-level play doesn't bog down in 70 dice being rolled per turn, then I can't wait to DM an epic campaign.

As I recall (I don't have a link, but it was discussed on dndinsider.com not long after the 4E announcement) that Dungeon and Dragon would be bi-monthly until 4E came out, and would then switch back to monthly.

I'll believe it when I see it. Right now I'm still sorely unimpressed with their electronic version and it seems I wasn't missing out on anything afterall since they aren't putting them out on a regular basis.

Ive been a little disappointed with their schedule. Of course it doesn't help that with Firefox minimum fonts on 22 I cannot view their website. The text is all over the place..

I've been disappointed by the schedule for the released content, but not in any way surprised. I like darn near everything I've heard about 4e as an RPG, but I have no confidence in WotC in any matters related to the net or software. There's going to be a lot of confusion and bumbling before they have a chance at competent, regular electronic content.

4E may be changing a number of D&D's sacred cows, but at least 1 tradition is continuing ... namely WotC's inability to impress with any of their electronic offerings. Now they did advise us in advance that we wouldn't be seeing much from the e-zines over these next few months, which is why this announcement is hardly a surprise. But as someone who over the last year was hoping to have seen some real indication that WotC had turned the corner on their reputation for the poor performance of their electronic products, I have been sorely disappointed.

I agree that the current online offerings for Dungeon & Dragon are underwhelming, but part of that may be the result of not having a great incentive to support 3e and not being able to roll out much in terms of 4e content. My guess is that they're stockpilling material for 4e, and that the mags will see a noticeable uptick is quality, utility, etc. when they switch over.

Probably.
