Dragon aesthetics

Do you prefer serpentine dragons? Big bulky ones? Nimble cat-like dragons (or at least tiger-like)? Short snouts? Long fanged jaws? Tattered wings? Muscular anatomically feasible wings?

Describe your ideal dragon.

Dead with its Phat Loot in my Bag of Holding.

(but somewhat more seriously I like the standard D&D depiction - 4 legs and 2 wings, more on the lizard side than serpentine. I never really liked the oriental style. )

It depends a lot on what the dragon's "for" to me.

In general, I prefer slender dragons with narrow heads and large wings (probably not realistic-scale, but pretty big compared to their bulk). Four legs, but they're never the focus unless they're on the ground. Sort of the Leer Jet of dragons.

The line for me blurs with eastern dragons. I prefer my dragons to have wings, but legs are actually pretty optional.

But, if the dragon's supposed to be a cavedwelling terror in melee, I'd lean towards a bulkier build. Smaller, but intact, wings and everything else being shorter and thicker.

Cheers!

I definitely prefer serpentine dragons, either oriental-style, i.e. without wings, or wyvern-like with large wings that look like they might be able to support flight.

I favor rather beefy dragons with big heads, who make a big thump when they tough down on the ground. I think those in Skyrim look really quite good, but I would make them four legged.

Ideally I like my dragons to be that perfect fusion of ruthless predator and cunning manipulator. Big, bulky, intelligent, a love of collecting various things depending on the type.

But I do like variety, so I often employ a variety of styles and types depending on what I want in particular in my game.

Nearly every on screen dragon has been too puny for me. Looks like Schmowg will correct that though!
