Dragon magazine 330 April- Far Rælmy goodness

Lots of good stuff for the DM

A nice 17 page article on importing cancerous lumps of unspeakable geography onto your world with a nice allotment of spells [a domain’s worth with an extra 3rd and 4th ] for the spellcaster that wants power no matter what the cost to mind or body {his or otherwise…]. Best of all no hoop jumping, CR bumping PRCs to accomplish this, just a feat with a nice role playing requirement unlocks the spells [might be too good for spell limited spontaneous casters]. Another feat unlocks ways to squeeze more power out of the spells at a modest risk. A few monsters of very unpleasant nature [nature being a subjective term] and a magic item or two round out the article.

Spells with lives snakes as a focus lie within a book by the serpent folk….

Chull ecology…

High Level Jester PRC with some teeth for the I.C.P. fans….

Assassin magic items.

Etc…

There is a contest on page 15 where you can win a hat just like that one.

We were going to do the exact same pose from the cover.. but alas, we figured no one would want the hat after I had the tentacles in my mouth.. ugg

I think there is a feat in the "Flaw for Commoners" article that ties into it, too. I think you have to take the flaw to wear the hat ;)

I just hope I actually get my copy of #330 without having to call Paizo and harass Dave in Customer Service again. I NEVER received my copies of #'s 326, 327, and 329. NEVER. I had to call and complain each month. Paizo made good and sent me replacement copies, but really... they say the problem lies with the printer. Good business sense seems to dictate "change printers".

Sorry...this turned into a rant. #330 sounds great. I just hope I get it.

Here's what's in Dragon #330

Enter the Far Realm: How to bring the Far Realm to your world, the different ways it manifests. There are two feats that unlock the Cerebotic Spells, but personally I would allow anyone to use these spells, especially if they didn't notice that each casting brings the Far Realm a little closer.

There are four new monsters and Dream Key Items. There are side bars for using the Far Realm in Eberron as part of Xoriat and what other monsters come from the Lands of Nightmares.

The Umbragen: Shadow elves of Eberron: A very nice article, especially for those of us sick of spider drow. Favored Class for Umbragen is the Warlock and a variant Shadow SoulKnife. It is like the regular one, but draws everything from Shadow instead of Psionics. There are three substitution levels and they get two different abilities that can become feats for regular SoulKives; Shadow Bow and Greater Shadow Bow: they can reshape their Mind Blade into a Short Bow and later a Composite Bow, both complete with Shadow Arrows. They also get several Racial Feats.

Comming Home: An Eberron short story.

Ecology of the Chuul: Looks interesting, but an actual picture of a chull close up would have been nice.

Tools of the Assassin: Magic items for those who slay. Take special note of the Rod of Deadly Function, like the Rod of Lordly Might, but for Rogues.

Volume Veneficus: Spells with a serpent theme. This would be great for games with Yuan-Ti or Naga.

The Jester PrC: Could be a very nice class for Rat Bastard DMs.

And a Class Act: Flaws for Commoners. Chicken Infested, Corpse, Delicious, Dirt Farmer, Incomprehensible Accent, Pesant Hat, Pig Bond, Unimportant NPC, Weresheep and XP Farm.

Next Issue: #331
The Point of Pole Arms
Alchemical Charms
New Uses for Old Equipment
Fast, Furious and Fantastic: New Vehicles
Ecology of the Green Hag
