Arcane Resistance (Su): The hexblade gains a bonus equal to his charisma bonus on saving throws against spells and spell-like effects.

Elf sense (Ex): An elf who merely passes within 5 feet of a secret or concealed door is entitled to a Search check to notice it as if she were actively looking for it.

Hexblade's Curse (Su): Once per day, as a free action, a hexblade can unleash a curse upon a foe. The target must be visible to the hexblade and within 60 feet. The target of a hexblade's curse takes a -2 penalty on attacks, saves, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls for 1 hour thereafter. A successful Will save (DC 17) negates the effect.

Mettle: A hexblade can resist magical and unusual attacks with great willpower and fortitude. If he makes a successful will or fortitude save against an attack that normally would have a lesser effect on a successful save (such as any spell with a saving throw entry of Will half or Fortitude partial), he instead completely negates the effect. An unconscious or sleeping hexblade does not gain the benefit of mettle.

Spell-like abilities: Drow can use the following spell-like abilities once per day: dancing lights (DC 15), darkness (DC 17), faerie fire (DC 16). Caster level equals the drow’s class levels.

Appearance and Background: Dressed in black and grey clothes, Gwystyl presents a very different
picture from the average Grey Elf (if there is such a thing). His somber dress doesn't
carry over to his manner, however, as he smiles and jokes even in the most dire and
dangerous situations. It seems that danger is a stmulant to the Elf, though he is not foolhardy
or suicidal. Gwystyl wears a pair of swords, several daggers and a quiver of arrows&bow on his
back, along with a hand crossbow that he keeps hidden under his cloak. A Quarterstaff is usually
in his hands, several rings and an odd (Gnomish, for those looking) clip like the ones
used for climbing(Indeed, he uses it to clip on to ropes for descents or to travel from rooftop
to rooftop).Gwystyl is a bit of a packrat, his pouches and especially his Haversack filled with
all manner of things. Gwystol travels with a Rat familiar named Dmitri, a Wharfrat that he saved
from several sailors trying to kill it in Contryll (The Dark Coast). Gwystyl himself stays elusive
as to where he is from, smiling and saying that his Past is his Past and his Future lies all across the World...

"I still remember that day, as if it were yesterday. I had already lived 126 moons. Father had taken Asmund and I out hunting. Asmund, my brother was only 86 moons at the time. I was a skilled hunter by then, but my brother, well he never took much to hunting; his interests always seemed to lie elsewhere.

I shot a stag that day while we were out, father was happy with my skills. We were carrying it back through the forest to the clan when we smelled an acrid stench and heard a loud ruckus up ahead. The noise sounded like it was coming from our encampment. There was a roar, louder than I had ever heard from any bear or wildcat. Later I found out it was from a dragon.

Father ordered me to stay in place and watch over Asmund. He left his pack with me, but grabbed his bow and quiver. He told us he would return for us, and then quickly headed off through the woods towards our
encampment.

The noise ahead of us was deafening. The trees blocked most of our view, but we were able to catch glance of a large green dragon, circling our clan's area. It made many
swoops down into the clearing. Once we even saw it unleash its vile spray from its mouth once.

I wanted to grab my bow and head to help my clan, but I didn't want to disobey my father's orders. After what seemed like an eternity, things finally went silent. I waited
with Asmund for hours, but my father never returned, even after we had seen the dragon fly away towards the mountains. Night was upon us, so we slept there that night, hoping father would return for us in the morning.

Morning came and went and father never returned. Asmund and I carried the deer carcass back to the village. It was a bit of struggle for him to his half of the load, but we
managed to get it to the clearing.

When we arrived at the village, everything was destroyed. The men, women and even children of the clan lay dead out in the open and in damaged shelters. Even the elders
were dead. The dragon left nothing intact and no one alive. Asmund and I are the last two of our clan.

I was immediately flooded with hatred and rage. I grabbed my bow and my pack and began preparing to track the dragon back to his lair in the mountains. Asmund was also
greatly upset, but he took things in a much different perspective. He was much more full of grief. He told me it was better that we wait and train before attempting to exact
revenge on this dragon, that he said was the wish of the elders.

At first, I didn't realize the changes he had undergone at that moment. I didn't realize that the elders now spoke through him. Looking back, both of us changed that day. It
was that day that I developed my hatred towards dragons. They had destroyed my home, my family, everything and everyone I ever knew. Though I heeded [brother]’s advice, I swore that I would exact my revenge on that dragon, and every other dragon I could find.

Since that day, Asmund and I have traveled the countryside, training for when we meet with the dragon that destroyed our village. I have used the time to learn as much as I can about dragons, and the skills I need to defeat them.

We have had great luck in defeating the dragons we have come in contact with since that fateful day. So far, we have slain three dragons, well, six if you count the nest we
destroyed. The most recent was a juvenile black dragon we had hunted for 3 moons. Asmund was uneasy when we tracked and killed a bronze dragon. He says that those are good dragons. If you ask me though, there is no such thing. All dragons are evil. I must be correct in my thoughts, the elders tell him the same thing.

I had a bow crafted for me out of a thighbone, from the black dragon. A wizard I had met was kind enough to imbue it with power for me. The bow is engraved; in addition to
latticework, it contains a phrase in Draconic, its name; it says 'Vivex esrekess *Kurick*', Victory through slaughter. Well, as you've probably guessed by listening to me ramble about my history, that's pretty much my view on dragons."

My brother speaks true, although my experience has been different to his. When we arrived back at our village the evening following the attack, unlike my brother I could feel no anger. Feelings on pain, fear and grief swept over me like a tide. In truth, I can now remember little of our tribe or the year following the attack. At least, no memories of my own...

We spent the night in the ruins of one of the cottages, my brother tells me, and I think it was while I slept that the elder's came to me. From that night on, I always felt as if someone where watching over me, keeping me safe, but also judging my actions. It was not until three months after the destruction of our tribe that I first knowingly spoke with a spirit.

I was trying to gut a deer Sigbiorn had caught, but I've never been good at such tasks.

"No, no, boy, you should hold the knife like so..." I heard my grandfather say, and I felt my grip on the knife shift.

"See, now you cut up, like this." Grandfather continued, and my arm moved of it's own accord, neatly cutting free a large chunk of the deer's innards. Oddly enough, I wasn't scared by this. It was a comfort to hear Grandfather's kind voice again, and to my childish mind, it did not seem in the slightest strange to speak with a dead man.

From that day on, I had many, many talks with Grandfather. He had been a spirit-talker (a shaman to "civilised" men) before his death, and taught me much knowledge of the otherworld. Soon, I started to hear the voices of others of the Bearfoot Clan, but these where the voices of our tribe's warriors. They did not have the gentle kindness of Grandfather. They wanted but one thing: vengeance on the dragon that had all but ended the days of the Bearfeet.

In this respect, they shared a mind with my brother. He had given hardly a though to any other cause but tracking our tribe's killer since we left the village, but both Grandfather's and my own words had managed to instill some caution into his actions. The warrior spirits had little time for such reservations. They taught me how to use a bow, and I'm now a fair shot. They urged me and my brother onwards, not giving me a moment's peace if I seemed to be straying from their chosen path.

This came to a head when Sigbiorn heard tell of a young bronze dragon living in the woods close to a small town. Grandfather had always told me that the dragons who shone like metal are creatures of purity, devoted to the good of all. My brother and the warriors would have none of it. We hunted and killed the dragon, the warrior's forcing my hand to strike against my will.

Grandfather and I had a long talk after this, and he taught me a way to keep the warrior spirits from overruling my will again. I can do nothing about the voices that call me "coward" and "traitor" whenever I speak of the good dragons, but I must live with those. With luck and courage, I hope I may find vengeance for my tribe, but without causing harm to the dragons that seek to push back the tides of evil.

So far, I am doing well...
