yeah, i was watching geek squad on youtube, and they talk with larry elmore about the trailer...

but i cant find it anywhere!
the preview pics in dl movie site were a little odd, so i was praying for a video

They showed the trailer on Thursday night at the DragonLance update (the last one *sigh*) and the trailer was playing on a Mac at MWP's booth.

The sound was very low when i saw it, but Margaret Weis told me she was thrilled with the music and was very happy overall.

I'm....undecided. The film uses both 2d and 3d animation and I'm not sure it was working. I'm not saying it was out and out bad - I'm saying I'm unconvinced it's going to be very good. It did look better than the recent production stills hinted at - which I thought were pretty dreadful and should never have been released.

Margaret Weis told me that Paramount had not yet approved the trailer that was being shown for general release, but she expects that a version of it will be out sometime in September. That's not a promise - just a reasonable expectation

The movie will go straight to video in November. In marketing lingo - that means it will be in stores by US Thanksgiving, come hell or high water.

I'll buy it of course.

One interesting point: I did not see the D&D logo appear anywhere in the trailer at all - although the DragonLance logo was prominent.

Trying to do Dragonlance in theatres would just remind everyone how LotR was cooler / better / bigger / zingier. I'm just happy fantasy is as hot as it is right now.

Straight to video - too bad. Looks like they blew another chance to bring D&D to the masses.

The producers have come out and said that sending it to DVD means there's a much better chance of the movie having sequels. Widespread theatrical release is very expensive, and studies have shown that straight-to-DVD is a high performance option for movies in niche markets at the moment, anyway. Movies such as the Ultimate Avengers, Iron Man, and so forth have done very well in sales.

Here is my review, on the preview.

Tracey asked the crowd, not to record the showing, due to the fact, that things are still in flux, on the legal side.

Asked on a theatre release, it came down to money, expense of advertising it and other stuff, would have outstripped the overhead.

But, as stated by John Frank Rosenblum (co-producer), if the DVD sells well, they will make more 'sequels'. Which means that MW production owns the film rights exclusively, not WoTc. (yeah!)

As for the Midnight movie (and which one are you referring to), I saw nothing of it.

Sorry, didn't see this response, but yes, this statement is supported.
