Dragonlance, wizards of high sorcery

First Post
I have a few questions concerning wizards of high sorcery:

- When you become a wizard of high sorcery are you "forced" to take at least one level of the wizards of high sorcery PrC or can you just pass the test and choose a robe. From what I read, it seems like to are obliged to take at least one level of wizard of high sorcery.

- Suppose you're a renegade (for example, you come from another world and know nothing about the orders) and you are, let's say a lawful good conjurer with evocation as oppositionnal school. A white robe approaches you and ask you to join the order.

What happens, what must you do, if you don't meet the prereq? (for example, suppose you don't have the spell focus feat. Or that you took spell focus(enchantment)).

What must you do with your specialisation school?

What are your house rules concerning wizards of high sorcery?

Anyone remembers what schools were forbidden from each order in the 1st edition dragonlance campaign setting book? I don't ;)

First off, I don't have the new DL book.

Old "forbidden" schools were:
Black Robe: Abjuration & Illusion
Red Robe: Abjuration & Necromancy
White Robe: Illusion & Necromancy

IIRC, once a wizard reaches 3rd level he must take the Test. If he refuses, he is branded a renegade and dealt with accordingly (killed by Black Robes, banished to another world by White Robes, banished/killed by Red Robes).

IMC, Wizard of HS is a prestige class that must be taken by any wizard wanting to advance beyond 3rd level. Refusal means you're a renegade and will be hunted down by the Orders. No one really plays sorcerers IMC, but you could if you wanted to be a renegade (which all sorcerers are).

I use a custom Wiz of HS prestige class that is better than Wizard or Specialist so no one really has a problem with it.

If you don't qualify for the prestige class, then you probably weren't thinking ahead. All wizards know the "rules of the game" so if you don't qualify, too bad so sad - you either stop advancing as a wizard or you're "dealt with" as a renegade. If you're importing a character into a DL campaign, your DM should take this into account and let you switch feats if need be.

IMC, no one uses specialists but they still exist. They're just further restricted in terms of what schools they have available.

just because I can :) :

white robes can use: Abjuration, Charm/Enchantment, Conjuration (but not summoning, the DLA is very nice about not putting a significant split between the two ... which always frustrated me), Evocation (but not invocation  ) and Divination.

Red Robes got: Alteration, Conjuration and summoning, illusion and phantasm, Invocation (again ... but not evocation), and divination.

Black robes got: charm and enchantement, divianation, illusion and phantasm, Necromantic, and summoning (but not conjuration).
