Hi everybody, just had an idea to put a dragon's breath into a spell. Perhaps it was already done, but I didn't find it. Kaichiri's Dragon's Breath Evocation [Acid, Cold, Electricity or Fire], Clr 8, Drd 7, Sor / Wiz 8 Components: V, S, F Duration: 10 min / Level or until discharged Casting time: 1 action Range: special Affected Area: special Saving throw: Reflex half Spell Resistance: Yes The caster uses his breath like a dragon can. The affected area depends on the used focus, breath type, and the caster's actual size (table in the MM on page 62): Size Line Cone Tiny 30 ft. 15 ft. Small 40 ft. 20 ft. Medium-size 60 ft. 30 ft. Large 80 ft. 40 ft. Huge 100 ft. 50 ft. Gargantuan 120 ft. 60 ft. Colossal 140 ft. 70 ft. The damage dealt depends on the used focus (see MM: dragons)and the number of damage dice may not exceed the caster level. The spell lasts for a maximum of 10 minutes per caster level or until one dragon breath per 3 levels was used. A breath may be used again after a pause of at least 1d4 rounds. Using it is a standard action. Once a breath type has been chosen, it can't be changed for the duration of the spell. Focus: A dragon's scale from a dragon with a breath weapon, depending on the type and power of the desired breath weapon An example: A druid (level 14) has several foci for this spell: the scales of a white wyrmling, a juvenile green, a mature adult silver and an old blue dragon. So he could use the icy breath of a white dragon with 1d6 dp, the acidic chlorine breath of a green dragon with 8d6, the cold breath of a silver dragon with 14d8 or the lightning breath of a blue dragon with 14d8 dp. To use the full power of the blue scale, the druid must advance to level 16, because old blue dragons deal 16d8 dp with their breath. 1.) I'm not sure if the spell is placed in the right level because of it's highly varying damage (Sunbeam varies too, but it makes only a difference between some undead and non-undead). A solution may be to use the same die-type for all breath types, say d6 (for a loss of flavour ;) ) 2.) The metallic dragons have two breath types. Should they be usable with the spell? 3.) School: Transmutation as an option? Any proposals, ideas and tips will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dark Dragon
