Dragons in Dragonlance

First Post
I have just gotten back into the dragon lance setting after about 10 years away................quite a bit has happened ;). Can anybody explain where all these new dragons have come from, i have missed a few of the novels and jumped staright into the war of the souls. These Newer dragons Beryl etc seem a lot bigger and more powerful than say skie(my personal fav) and what sourcebook do you recommend if i want to start gaming back into the world of krynn cheers

Are you currently reading the War of Souls? (Not clear from your post)
It gets explained in this books and I don't want to spoil it for you.

The new Dragonlance Campaign Setting has a full timeline of what's happened since the War of the Lance, but as said above, the very novels you're reading will explain it soon enough.

Skie happens to be one of them. ;)

They first appeared in the Dragons of a New Age trilogy, but the War of Souls trilogy explains them a lot more extensively.

Well i just finished book one of the war of the souls and from what i can figure these other dragons came from another "place" and declared war on the dragons there were already present. From how they are described in the book they seem much more powerful than the ones that were before them. And this "nameless" god, why do i ge tthe feeling its either one big ruse or takhasis(spelling) coming back, as skie was left alone by the storm and seemed more bemused than annoyed. I always felt skie was a devoted servant of the dark queen.

Except perhaps Aurora, Furyion, Darlantan, Crematia et alia (but that's just my opinion).

The dragon Overlords (Malys, Skie, Beryl, Frost and Sable) are quite epic in the rules as well.

All this questions will be answered in the second an third book. Be patient.

There wasn't any need for those dragons to be in the same class as the Dragon Overlords - they never had any competition for being eldest, so they were all great wyrms or wyrms. When all the other dragons are younger than you, who needs epic level advancement?

Cheers,
Cam

Perhaps no special need, but it would simply have been appropriate for them. Going by the rules a dragon reaches great wyrm status by the time he passes 1201+ years and the epic great wyrm table ends at 2401+. Darlantan was a 6000 years old killing machine who wasn't even showing signs of old age.

I've got the game books, but won't be reading the novels (just too many to catch up on) so use Spoiler tags if you wish, but di they actually tell where the great dragons come from? What's the story?

Thanks.
