[Dragonstar] Gladiator Games

With the new Emporer both evil and a follower of the Destroyer, wouldn't gladiator games make sense? They might start out as death sentences but wiould quickly turn into political tools and mass entertainment. They would also increase the under current of evil throughout the Empire. Any thoughts?

Does anyone else here see Simon Green's Deathstalker novels as an increasingly attractive source of material for Dragonstar?

Haven't read the Deathstalker novels (shame on me) but Gladiatorial combat would be very fitting to DS. I actually found that the arena battle in SW II: AotC had a certain DnDish feel to it .

When I finally get to describe the Imperial League of Minotaurs for DS, there should be some features on how their Arena combats are run on my site as well (of course in the League Arena Combat IS the COURT OF LAW ).

Yes, Simon's Deathstalker novels would be a great inspiration for DS. The Games play a major part in the novels. Though I don't remember him addressing whether the Games would continue once the Empress was deposed. I'm glad I finished the last novel in the series before I gave up reading fiction. RPG's are my last fictional reading source. That and USENET.
