DragonStar + Rokugan = The Stars, My Empire

HellHound

ENnies winner and NOT Scrappy Doo
We run two house campaigns at most times in the "Ambient Inc Offices" (aka, our house or "the pharm"). One is a pumped-up Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil run (really beefed up bad-guys - we've been using a lot of the sample NPCs from the Print edition of Librum Equitis vol 1 in this one), the other wrapped up recently...

And is being replaced with The Stars, My Empire

We are using some of the material from Holistic Design's Fading Suns d20 (the armor, energy shields, some tech, social feats), Fantasy Flight Games' Dragonstar (most of the weapons except the slug throwers which we upgraded, power armor, dragon emperor, some character classes, feats, etc, etc) and Alderac Entertainment Group's Rokugan (Character Classes, magic, shadowspace, taint and all the goodies of that setting).

It's been a lot of fun putting this one together, trying to find a middle ground in the weapons and armor rules from the various settings and rules sets, choosing what clans include what races (Scorpion obviously has to include Drow and half-drow based on their roles in Rokugan vs Dragonstar, etc...) and adding a small smattering of half-dragons to the imperial families and so on.

Really, I'm tooting my own horn here while also saying that I *love* these settings. They all turn my crank. REALLY. My biggest regret is axing the Cleric class and the Fading Suns "Pancreator" religion in order to give the Shugenjas and Ancestor Worship of a good Asian setting the prominence they deserve.

Since a majority of the MATERIAL for this setting is other people's Product Identity, I obviously won't be releasing it, but the various tables of weapons, armor and so on will make their way on line as I strip out the Product Identity from the house document we game with.

Very Cool

I've got Dragonstar and Oriental Adventures- now all I have to do is get my paws on Fading Suns d20 and Spycraft and I can make one killer campaign. I'm thinking of combining elements of all four, and creating a campaign based around the officers on board a Dragon Empire Heavy Cruiser exploring the fringes of the Outlands... Star Trek meets D&D meets various Anime meets Star Wars meets Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep meets Dune is what I'm going for.... ;)
