[Dragonstar] Sorcerers, Mages and Psionics

First Post
Within the Dragonstarn universe Sorcerers have a higher social standing than Mages. The Sorcerers having the "blood of dragons" running through their viens. If FFG adds Psionics to their system where would they stand? Between Sorcerers and Mages? Their powers are internal like a Sorcerers and they don't need to study like a mage.

Does anyone know if FFG will add Psionic rules at some future date? Or just use the existing rules?

At this point I have not heard of any plans to officially add Psionics to the Dragonstar universe.

As for how they would be accepted... Hmmm. That I'm not to sure about.

Difficult. I don`t think it will be "core" Dragonstar to have any psionics, so it is up to you.

I can imagine that they are distrusted. There abilities are not like real spells. They are not from god, or nature, nor from blood or study. They are... brain & body?
It might make sense (though it becomes very difficult) to use the "psionic is different of magic" option.
Perhaps psionic creatures (mind flayers?) could be opponents to the Dragons and their Empire. (Instead of "Outsiders", "outgalaxier" or how ever you want to name it...)

If you go for "psionir are similar to magic" option, and don`t want to add to much political changes, I think psionics wouldn`t be rated "higher" than wizards...

ON the Dragonstar mailing list people have been shooting around some great psionic ideas.

Gythanki secret police with a supersecret "psi" warp drive (undetectable by magic)

A revamped mindflyer race that is deadlier in space (brain grow so much bigger when they are in zero G.

And other stuff.

Yes - many good suggestions have popped up on the DS mailing list. You should really go check out the archive as many are pretty lengthy.
My own suggestion, however, is that most Psions and PsiWar are descendants of the Gem Dragons who willingly left the Dragon Empire long ago in order not to threaten the balance. The Chromatics fear the Gems and their descendants and treat them accordingly while the Metallics have a grudging respect for the decision of the Gems.
In another region of space their are latent psionic races (psionic humans like the Talaire from Dragon 283, the Fraal and the Kureshim from If Thoughts Could Kill). This region of space was more or less laid barren in a war between the civilised races and the Illithid invaders. For the oppressed people of these galaxies - far outside the reach of the DE (for now!) - the Gem Dragons are becoming silent saviours, working covertly to restore the natural balance inside the area that covers the remnants of the Illithid Empire. You'll find some details about this and more on my site - the main parts are still upcoming, however...
