Dragonwrought Kobolds [RoD]

At its most basic, being dragon type instead of humanoid means becoming immune to charm person, dominate person, and similar effects (eg. anything that specifically targets a humanoid).

You could also take the Draconic feats in Draconomicon.
A Dragonwrought Kobold Dragon Shaman could get quite a bit of use out of those!

i'm making a 6th lvl dragonwrought kobold sorcerer. i've taken dragon wings (mostly for flavour) and versatile caster. what spells would you advise me to take?
i have only one 3rd lvl spell and i was inclining to take fireball. although that's so banal. as for the second level i'm considering invisibility and fly, swift [SC]. what do you think? not much ideas for first level tho..

Stony Grasp (Complete Arcane) is awesome for RP purposes, since you can basically have a massive hand reach up, pin your foe, and hold it in place at the mercy of your stinging wit or merciless questioning. When someone has information you want, but wants to kill you, Stony Grasp beats just killing them and hoping you can get some info off of their carried items.

Fly is a staple 3rd-lvl spell, but you have wings, so it's really only useful for your companions.

Resonating Bolt (Complete Arcane) is good for parties who don't have a Goliath Barbarian with Destructive Rage to knock down iron doors for them. Actually, it's great any time you want to really mess up inanimate objects without starting a structural fire or forest fire with your fireball (not to mention those DM's who like using the old Fireball rules that can "squirt" back out of small rooms!) It's one of the most versatile area-affect, damage-dealing spells, because nothing resists its sonic damage, even objects. Of course it's a line, not a sphere, which can be a problem sometimes *shrug*

Dimension Step (Player's Handbook II) is a good way to get your party past traps and obstacles. I haven't personally seen it in action, but it sounds good from it's description.

i like the stony grasp thing. but it's level 3 - not worth to be my only spell of this level. maybe i'll go with earthen grasp instead.

I'm a bit astonished that sukael didn't mention this, since he's always impeccably thorough, but dragons are immune to paralysis. This is a big help in certain circumstances.
