Dreamscarred Press - 2007 at a Glance

First Post
Things have been busy at Dreamscarred Press. Following the launch of our first release, Untapped Potential: New Horizons in Psionics, we saw a flurry of activity pushing out errata, coordinating artwork, and preparing for the print release of the book. Thanks to the incredible support of our customers, this release was a success with over twenty commissioned pieces of artwork, a new book format, new book cover, and twenty additional pages added! We think you'll agree that this book has been worth the wait.

So what does 2007 hold in store for Dreamscarred Press? From the look of things, quite a bit!

Jeremy Smith is currently hard at work completing his book, The Mind Divine, focusing on the concept of godminds, but also introducing a host of new options for players, including ten new prestige classes, dozens of new feats and powers, and a treasure trove of psionic items! Assisting Jeremy in this book are Andreas Rönnqvist and Brian Dupuis, who have given amazing insight into how to insure that godminds are not just gods with the "psionic" label, and it's pretty much a guarantee that some of Greg Jacob's high-quality feats will be included within the pages of this book.

Andreas Rönnqvist is working on Dreams of the Subconscious, where dreams literally come to life. Dreams explores the inate connection between the subconscious mind and the plane known as the Dreamscape. This book will offer two new base classes, new races, prestige classes, and an alternate system for the soulknife! The dreamscape concept will be central to this book, introducing the variety of creatures that reside within this plane of dreams and nightmares.

Brian Dupuis has put forth the idea of entirely replacing the divine spellcasting classes with a series of feats and new skills. Tired of letting CoDzilla be a problem? None of your players want to play a healer? Don't you think that the god of war, thieves, or magic would choose warriors, thieves, or magicians to do their will? This book is intended to fix all these problems. Now your divine spellcasting will be based on YOUR character, not on a rigid stereotype. With the help of Michel Fiallo-Perez, Brian plans to offer a viable replacement to the current divine spellcasting system.

Greg Jacob and Michel Fiallo-Perez have opened the doors of Su'Vah, Gateway of Dreams, a sourcebook for Su'Vah, one of the cities of Rajrin, the Isle of Dreams first introduced in Untapped Potential: New Horizons in Psionics. While this supplement is still in the early stages, it has plans to be the first supplement detailing the new island that has arrived from the Region of Dreams, including an adventure to help catapult your players into the mysteries of Rajrin.

Further down the line, we have plans to work on:

The Mind Ascended - Jeremy Smith takes us back to the topic of godminds, focusing on information the game master can use, giving specific information on the nature of godminds, the creation, and destruction, of godminds, and how they operate. While this book is not intended for use as a player, it will likely have some content useful to characters, both PC and NPC.

Music of the Mind - The influence of music on the thoughts and the world is explored by Andreas Rönnqvist in this supplement where the thoughtsinger is expanded upon. Jeremy plans to play second string to Andreas and help compose some high quality material.

The 7th Path - For years, all that has been known of psionics has revolved around the six disciplines. Rumors hold of a seventh discipline, one devoted to what many call "mediums." Take a walk down the seventh path in this psionic supplement.

In addition, work is still progressing on our first web enhancement, that for Untapped Potential: New Horizons in Psionics, in which we'll offer new material for this book free to the public! Included in this enhancement will be new creatures, variant class ideas, and much, much more!

Hmmm. Sounds like I should check your products out. I have never liked how psionics have been handled in D&D, but it sounds like your people may be putting the spin on it to make it appeal to me. Plus that whole alternative divine caster system sounds like a neat idea.

Hm, I hadn't heard that part before. Is this twenty pages of new material, or is it saying that the actual page count has just been upped to accomodate the print format?

I can't answer directly for Jeremy, but as part of Dreamscarred Press I can tell you the following:

The additional 20 pages include entirely new material in the form of Prestige Classes, extended writing or new material since placeholders for the art were in place during the initial PDF release. Jeremy will be able to fill you in on exactly what the new material is beyond all the new illustrations which weren't there before.

The page count of actual material in Untapped Potential increased from 170ish to 190ish. Part of this, yes, was due to the artwork. But surprisingly, only a small part.

Included in the new version (free to all who purchased the original, FYI!) will be 2 new prestige classes, organizational substitution levels for a few prestige classes, new powers and feats, and variant options for some of the other classes.

It's a fair bit of brand spanking new material :) Will Elyea, who contributed powers such as dimensional oubliette and feats such as the Power by Proxy tree, and a newcomer have been kind enough to contribute some of their thoughts and ideas for this release.
