Drow Chainmail

The PCGen program includes stats for "Drow Chainmail" which should be described in the FR material from WotC.

Can you tell me where I can find the description of this type of armor?

According to Sean K Reynolds (FRCS author), there is no such armor. It was turfed due to balance concerns.

#1: It costs more, since only drow can use it. So now, drow are weaker in combat (since they can afford fewer magic items). And drow are known for carrying lots of magic items.

#2: It's cheaper, because it breaks down in the light (a serious limitation), and won't last more than about a month away from the Underdark. So not only do drow get more powerful armor than they should based on their CR and Hit Dice, but the PCs don't even get to use that sweet armor when the drow die.

Unbalanced.

Pseudo-magic items that lost their properties away from the radiation of the drow homeland were always one of the coolest things about the drow.

PCs generally have plenty of access to their own magic items.

This is taking game balance issues too far.
