Druid alternate class feature - elemental companion

Recently I read a WotC book containing an alternate druid class feature - the druid swapped animal companion and wild empathy class features for the elemental companion class feature. Basically, instead of an animal companion, the druid gained an Small elemental companion, which grew in size and HD as the druid's level increased.

Now I can't find the source for this alternate class feature. Any ideas where I can find it?
