Druid/Ranger animal companion

Darkthorn

First Post
I have recently inherited my older siblings' 3.5 edition books, and have a group of 5 players (including myself) and a DM to play our first campaign. One of the other players currently wants to be a sea kin, probably a druid or ranger, and someone on another forum suggested a sea hawk animal companion. The problem is, I can't find an option anywhere for a sea hawk animal companion, and want to know if there are any options for a partly aquatic/partly land animal companion. We're playing Eberron and starting at 1st level by the way.

Personally, I would simply use a regular hawk, give it a sea-hawk's physical description, and not worry about it. The differences are probably immaterial to the player or the game. Just always describe it as liking fish, being able to dive into water, etc...

On a related note, we have a Ranger in our group who's writing up his Animal Companion. His is a wolf, and a question arose.

Where in the rules does it say how many "tricks" you can teach an Animal Companion.

The Animal Companion rules say that they get one free one, above and beyond the limit, and the section on the Handle Animals skills makes several references to their being a limit, but I can't seem to find where that limit is actually stated.

So I decided to do something distinctly against the American male's rules, and ask for directions.

Anybody point me to he right section?
