Drunk demons?

Wellby

First Post
Sure, undead tend not to sleep and I can only imagine, don't get drunk.

I'm currently running an adventure that has a large group of constantly cavorting demons and undead.

PCs would like to do some assassinating. Do demons get drunk? Do they sleep?

(I know, it's whatever I want, but just wondering if there's some precedent...)

From the Monster Type description:

SRD

Outsiders breathe, but do not need to eat or sleep (although they can do so if they wish). Native outsiders breathe, eat, and sleep.

Summon (Sp): Many demons share the ability to summon others of their kind (the success chance and type of demon summoned are noted in each monster description). Demons are often reluctant to use this power until in obvious peril or extreme circumstances.
Telepathy.
Except where otherwise noted, demons speak Abyssal, Celestial, and Draconic.

I'd say they won't be caught napping. Technically, alcohol is a toxin, and demons (in general) are immune to poison, so it probably wouldn't affect them either.

demons may not be able to get drunk... there's nothing that says they can't get intoxicated on other stuff.. like drinking the blood of a paladin or angelic being, or the blood of devils with a little holy water mixed in.

It's possible to have them become intoxicated, while ignoring the "poison" aspects of what they're drinking. That is, euphoria and pleasure without stat loss.

Thus, their capacity to party would be essentially unlimited, restricted only by the physical volume of the liquor v the size of their bladder.

In a buddies Planescape campaign, in Sigil they had bars for fiends as well as dragons and other lot. I am sure other planar metroplises such as Union or the City of Brass would have simular.

There could very well be a "demon brew" or VILEwieser in your campaign. feel free to invent effects if a non-fiend drinks it :) Of course, all fiend beer is dark beer.

Well, there are ravages and afflictions that affect undead, so don't see why demons wouldn't make some sort of substance to drink or smoke. Thousand year old dwarven stout mixed with a pinch of angel ash and drop of unicorn blood sounds like a good start to me.
