Dual Layer DVD+/-R question

DVD-R is supposed to me more compatible and more expensive. Don't know if that's the case in real world, though.

These days, honestly, there probably isn't much of a difference. Either will likely work 99% of the time.

Actually its the opposite..DVD+R is the most compatible and DVD-R the least compatible..You can usually find the DVD+R DL discs online cheaper than a retail store...

I don't know. My player won't play +R but will play -R. Seems like half the world thinks one way, the other have thinks the other.

It will all be moot once Blu-Ray takes over the world. :)

DVD-R is a non-rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 93% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD-RW is a rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 80% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.

DVD+R is a non-rewritable format and it is compatible with about 89% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD+RW is a rewritable format and is compatible with about 79% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
(emphasis mine)

There's not much difference, especially in newer DVD players, but DVD-R is slightly more compatible. Of course, there are players out there that read DVD+R but not DVD-R. And from personal experience, I can say that sometimes a (usually old) DVD player will read one paticular brand of DVD+/-R but not another.

See the compatibility list here to check compatibility of a particular player.

That quote helps quite a bit. Thanks.
