[QUOTE="JoeNotCharles, post: 4837487, member: 79945"] [sblock=Kamotz] Dennis's body is covered in deep and shallow cuts, but from the small amount of blood they seem to have been made after his heart had already stopped, except for the biggest and deepest, a gouge in the middle of his back. His face is twisted in an undignified expression of surprise. By the disorder of the rough tradesman's clothes, the body has been searched once before. All that is left on it is a knife tucked into the belt, the fine red boots, and a note stuffed into an inner pouch: A betrayer, betrayed in turn. Stabbed in the back without time to draw a weapon. This is how he lived and how he died. [/sblock] [sblock=Mikara] You gather up and count the spilled gold, and count 20 gp and a ring. The ring bears the VonGravin family crest, similar to the one you've seen Reggie wearing, but with a few differences in the device. [sblock=History 15] A small figure has been inserted into the upper left of the crest, indicating a joining from a different family on the maternal line. This was Reggie's mother's ring. [/sblock] Still in the sack are a fine silver necklace and a roll of parchment. You unroll it to discover an especially fine drawing of Gwendolyn. You judge these each to be worth about 50 gp. [/sblock] [sblock=Vrrsk't] The man's body is covered with both deep and shallow cuts, but you don't believe they were made as any sort of sacrifice, as none of them are particularly near the heart, eyes or any other common target. Just orcs having fun hacking at a dead guy. The runes don't have any religious meaning you recognize - they remind you more of a primitive and sloppy version of arcane ritual circles you've seen in the past. Learning more about the ritual is a task best left to the spellcasters. [/sblock] [sblock=Morvannon and Magnus] You easily recognize the marks as a targeting circle for the Linked Portal ritual or one of its variants, although rather sloppy and crudely drawn. In theory it should exactly match a permanent circle somewhere in the world (or another), but you don't recognize any specifics except for one series of marks that refers to the Feywild. Of course, the Feywild is just as big as the mundane world, so the ritual's destination could still be virtually anywhere. The drawings are sloppy enough that you calculate a small but significant chance that the caster didn't come out where he intended to. [/sblock] [/QUOTE]
