Duelist Prestige Class...

My character is on her way to very much being a duelist type character, where her strength is NOT getting hit. As a result, I want to ditch the armor eventually, just like the Swashbuckler/Duelist Prestige Classes.

The problem is, she recently got a weapon, a longsword, which is very near and dear to her heart for particular reasons. Obviously, this doesn't go with the duelist character very well.

Are there any prestige classes in any books or listed anywhere that are similar to those that don't have the weapon restriction? She is elven, if that helps.

I appreciate any insight that anyone may give.

Well, for skillful elven lightly-armored longsword wielders, there's always the bladesinger (and the errata'ed version is available for free), although it can be tough to qualify for. It's actually one of my favorite prestige classes: a graceful elven swordmaster who uses magic to enhance his combat abilities.

blade singers get Int bonus to AC, too, just like Duellists...but they can wear light armor.

Duellists get the massive defensive fighting bonus to AC...at 7th or 8th level.

An elf is prob better off going bladesinger.

If there's no spell to change a magical longsword into a magical rapier, then there should be.

I also wouldn't want to base taking a prestige class on a weapon I had. Too easily lost, and, it's just a weapon.

Research a 3rd edition version of the old 2nd edition spell "Steal Enchantment", a 7th level wizard spell from the Tome of Magic.
I used to use that spell extensively.

Has anyone considered that the specific weapon may be near and dear for reasons other than magical bonusses, seeing as the player hasn't said anything about the magical bonusses, or even that there ARE any? Maybe it's just shiny.

you could also look at the swashbuckler class. there is no reason why your DM shouldn't let you wield a longsword in either class you would simply be a varient. you can still duel with a longsword. but only if you were the party who was picking the weapons.

Then carry the pretty heirloom...and USE the rapier. Pretty much ends that whole debate right there. lol
