I finally received the latest Dungeon in my mailbox today. The cover is quite something, juxtaposing an aranea in the form of a sexy woman, her modesty protected only by a few webs, as spiders crawl all over her. Here's the breakdown: Editorial: Looking Back, Moving Forward, by Erik Mona - Erik talks about how he's moving on from Editor-in-Chief of Dungeon in favor of James Jacobs, and how the next editorial (for the magazine's twentieth anniversary) will be his last. Prison Mail - Letters this month include a call for an Age of Worms hardcover, minor errata from the kamadan (issue #136), and thanks for the "gamer gift packages" sent to people on the Gulf Coast. Siege of the Spider Eaters, by Tim and Eileen Conners - In this adventure for 1st-level characters, a town has woken up one day to find half its population missing, and giant spiders everywhere! But as the PCs investigate, they'll have to determine if the giant spiders are the instigators of tragedy...or the victims of it. Tealpeck's Flood, by Peter Vinogradov - In this adventure for 6th-level characters, a dead wizard made a pact with a pit fiend, and even though he's gone now, the legacy of what he did continues. Now, the new resident of the wizard's castle needs the PC's help in order to stymie the pit fiend's bargain, before everyone becomes a victim of it. A sidebar covers the use of boats in the adventure. Man Forever, by Jason Nelson-Brown - In this Forgotten Realms adventure for 15th-level characters, the people of a small town are dying, seemingly of vampiric attacks, and a certain long-lived noble is the main suspect. However, when the PC's dig deeper, they'll find a much subtler and far more sinister source of evil...but only if they can cope with the threat of the Shadow Weave. Sidebars cover feats from specific soucebooks, rules on the Mob subtype, a new magic weapon quality, and a new magic weapon. Dungeoncraft: Running a Game is Hard to Do, Part One, by Monte Cook - Monte covers characters and perception here, such as asking for Spot and Listen checks, or when to ask for a Spot check instead of a Search check, etc. The Dungeon: Grisly Ends, by Hal Maclean - Twenty different corposes are given, each having died in a different way, with a paragraph of descriptive texts describing the remains. The Journey: Foraging Finds, by Russell Brown - Tables are given for what you'd find when foraging for food and water. Six different climates are listed (warm desert, temperate hills, cold mountains, temperate forest, temperate marsh, and temperate plains), with each having a table for foraging successes, and foraging failures. Critical Threat: The Dusklight Caravan, by Sam Brown - This Critical Threat covers a trading wagon run by derro, with notes on its appearance, tactics, and development, along with stats for its leader, Brias Sjeltand, a Derro Sorcerer 7. Cartoons - The Portent, by Peter Bergting; Mt. Zogon, by Tony Moseley; and Downer, by Kyle Stanley Hunter. Map of Mystery: Cinderforge
