I just read the front page letter from Wilson, and I'm not really sure that I understand.
What I gathered is:
I've probably made some math errors here, as I'm doing this quickly. I'd like to know just how much material I'm getting as a subscriber bonus, and I'll have to do the math on two extra months worth of subscription to see how this plays out for price over time. I'd like to have clarification on how many issues I get if I'm understanding the change to monthly correctly. As long as I'm getting just as much Dungeon I don't really care though.
What I gathered is:
- They're cutting the page count to 100 for both sides from around 180 for both sides.
- Two thirds will be dungeon (that's around 66, down from 110) in one issue, and one third (around 33, way down from 110) in the next.
- Poly will get the rest (33, down from 70 and 66, down from 70)
- The magazine is going monthly (So we can effectively double pagecounts to 132, up from 110 and 66, still down from 110 for dungeon - that's still a net loss of about 22 pages every four months; and 66 down from 70 and 132, up from 70 - a significant increase of about 28 pages every four months for Polyhedron.)
- It looks like Poly's getting the extra space, and even some of of Dungeons. That may be good or bad, depending on your preference.
