"Dungeon Command" What's This Then?

WotC is releasing two Dungeon Command products: Sting of Lolth and Heart of Cormyr. They are listed on the Boardgame tab at Wizards.com/DnD.

Besides being a standalone game, they are also designed to be partly usable in Wizards' recent DnD boardgames. See quote below for more details.

Has anyone seen these in play--at PaxEast, perhaps?

WotC said:
Dungeon Command features themed miniature factions designed to play as unified war bands, in a game eliminating luck-driven mechanics in favor of player-driven skill, creativity, and quick thinking.

Each Dungeon Command faction comes in its own box, containing twelve miniatures (plus the cards, tiles, and rules for the game). In addition to their use in Dungeon Command, these miniatures can also be used in the D&D RPG, with their cards further usable with D&D Adventure System board games (Castle Ravenloft, Wrath of Ashardalon, and The Legend of Drizzt). While each faction is meant to be played by a single player, quick-start rules allow two players to engage in a shortened version of the game using only one box.

And I thought War of the Spiderqueen was the huge Underdark event. But they continue milking the Underdark and the drow for all it's worth.

Yeah, I hate it too when companies capitalize on what a majority of their customers enjoy. So predictable. Underdark, drow, Drizzt . . . bah!

And, um, "Rise of the Underdark" is the current "theme" or "event", which includes a re-release of the classic "War of the Spiderqueen" novels, the "Dungeon Command: Lolth's Sting", and several other Underdark themed products. Very scattershot.

Sigh.

I really like that these act as expansions for the recent board games, it should help extend the life of those games, and boost the sales of Dungeon Command. I like the idea of collectible-miniatures-game-via-board-game styling, but I worry that the price point will keep this a two product release. I'll be keeping an eye on this game!
